Agency(Bihar): In a notable political development in Bihar, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), allied with the BJP, encountered a major setback as 22 of its leaders resigned. The leaders expressed dissatisfaction with the party’s ticket allocation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, critiquing party chief Chirag Paswan for favoring outsiders over dedicated party workers. This mass exodus is poised to impact the dynamics within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar, as the dissenting leaders announced their support for the opposition INDIA bloc.
The list of resigning leaders includes prominent figures like former minister Renu Kushwaha, former MLA and national general secretary of LJP Satish Kumar, along with other key party positions. The common grievance among these leaders centers on the allocation of Lok Sabha tickets, which they argue, sidelined competent and hardworking party members in favor of external candidates.
Accusations of betrayal and transactional politics against Chirag Paswan were highlighted, with leaders asserting that their efforts and loyalty were overlooked in the ticket distribution process. The decision to back the INDIA bloc indicates a significant political shift, suggesting a consolidation of opposition strength in Bihar ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
The LJP (Ram Vilas) had previously announced its candidates for the five seats in Bihar it plans to contest as part of the NDA, sparking controversy within its ranks. This included nominations for Chirag Paswan’s brother-in-law Arun Bharti from Jamui and new faces for other seats, some replacing longstanding members and rebels who had returned to the party fold.
