New Delhi (Agency): In a significant stride towards optimizing efficiency and ensuring a seamless travel experience, the GMR Hyderabad International Airport has launched a self-baggage drop facility at entry gate number-9, according to an official statement.
Eight advanced self-baggage machines have been stationed at the airport. Equipped with state-of-the-art scanners, scales, and sensors, these machines offer passengers a swift and convenient baggage check-in procedure, typically accomplished within 45-60 seconds, as per the details provided by the GHIAL in a press release on Monday.
Passengers have the option to utilize a self-check-in kiosk for printing their boarding passes. This user-friendly interface allows them to select the baggage option, input all requisite information, and print their bag tag independently.
Once the baggage has been tagged, passengers proceed to the self-bag drop unit. Here, the luggage is placed on the conveyor belt and the boarding pass barcode is scanned to initiate the process. The unit conducts a thorough check on the baggage, and if all parameters are met, it proceeds to process the luggage and transmit a confirmation to the corresponding airline.
However, if the luggage does not meet the established criteria, the unit automatically rejects it. In such instances, a check-in agent is available to provide immediate assistance. If the issue pertains to excess baggage, passengers are directed to the airline’s baggage counter.
The introduction of the new service was greeted with enthusiasm by Pradeep Panicker, CEO of GHIAL. “We are happy to add another convenience of the new self-baggage facility for passengers transiting through the Hyderabad airport. This will further ease travel and enhance their travel experience,” he said. Panicker further emphasized that the integration of technology in the self-bag drop and check-in process accelerates travel and simplifies the experience. “As we continue to invest in new-age technologies, we remain committed to providing a delightful travel experience for all our passengers,” he affirmed.
