Shillong: In two separate operations along the India-Bangladesh border, the Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya Frontier, apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals attempting to illegally enter India, officials reported on Sunday.

On Saturday, based on specific intelligence, BSF troops intercepted two individuals from Sunamganj District along the East Khasi Hills border. The duo admitted to crossing the border in search of employment and were handed over to PS Dangar for legal proceedings.

In a separate operation, the 50th Battalion apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals—residents of Pabna, Sherpur, and Kishoreganj—who had previously worked as tailors in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. They were detained in West Garo Hills and turned over to Mahendraganj Police Station.

These actions reflect BSF Meghalaya’s commitment to preventing illegal infiltration and cross-border crimes.

In a related earlier incident, BSF Meghalaya intercepted four Bangladeshi nationals, including a tout, in South Garo Hills. The operation, conducted by the 200th Battalion near Baghmara, also led to the seizure of a Tata Winger vehicle suspected of facilitating the illegal entry.
