Dehradun: The ancient Lord Shiva temple near Parvati Kund, on the sacred pilgrimage route to Adi Kailash and Om Parvat, was opened for devotees on Friday. The ceremonial opening took place at 12 noon with Vedic chanting and traditional rituals, drawing around 150 local villagers and 50 pilgrims.
As the temple doors opened, chants of “Har Har Mahadev” filled the air. Devotees from distant regions joined locals to seek blessings at this spiritually significant shrine. According to temple committee members, special arrangements have been made by the district administration to facilitate a smooth pilgrimage experience. Pilgrims have been urged to maintain sanctity and respect the environment during the journey.
Devotee Kartik Bhatia shared that there was great enthusiasm among pilgrims as the temple welcomed visitors for the new season. Many began their yatra with darshan at this revered site.
In related events, the Kedarnath Dham also opened on May 2. The occasion was marked by devotional music played by the Garhwal Rifles band. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the opening and distributed prasad to devotees at the Mukhya Sevak Bhandara held at the Kedarnath premises. He announced that the doors of Badrinath Dham will open on May 4.
CM Dhami reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to making the Char Dham Yatra a year-round pilgrimage, highlighting the introduction of winter pilgrimages. He also revealed that ₹2000 crore has been allocated for the ongoing reconstruction work in Kedarnath and confirmed central approval for a ropeway from Gaurikund to Kedarnath.
Meanwhile, the Panchmukhi Doli of Lord Kedarnath reached the Dham on Thursday, with chants of “Jai Baba Kedar” echoing throughout the Kedar Valley.
