New Delhi (Agency): On a recent Sunday in Janjgir, Chhattisgarh, Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of the Congress party, spoke with great confidence. He believes that his party will win the Chhattisgarh assembly elections at the end of this year. He also hopes that people will back the Congress in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, emphasizing the need “to save Constitution and democracy”.
During an event named ‘Bharose Ka Sammelan’, Kharge shared his concerns about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the Prime Minister had “insulted” the people of Chhattisgarh. Kharge was upset because the PM compared violent incidents in Manipur to situations in Chhattisgarh. “Has any incident like Manipur happened in Chhattisgarh?” Kharge questioned, referring to the violence in Manipur where many people were hurt and properties were destroyed.
Kharge also commented on the current state of Chhattisgarh, describing it as peaceful. He praised the government for keeping its promises to the people. On the other hand, he criticized the PM for not addressing major issues. He said that the PM only thinks about winning the next election, not about problems like rising prices or joblessness.
Kharge shared the Congress party’s plans to defend the Constitution and democracy. He mentioned that there will be a meeting for the 26-party opposition INDIA alliance. This meeting is planned for the end of August in Mumbai. At this event, the parties will discuss ways to challenge the BJP.
The Congress leader also spoke about an incident in Manipur. He said that many people were hurt, and many homes were burned there. Kharge expressed disappointment with PM Modi’s response to this crisis. According to him, the PM did not answer questions from the opposition leaders about the situation in Manipur. Instead, he blamed the Congress party.
Kharge also responded to a frequent question from PM Modi about what the Congress party achieved in the last 70 years. He reminded everyone that the Congress party opened many schools and created job opportunities. “Did schools open in the country after Modi became PM? Did the country get electricity after Modi became PM?” he asked, emphasizing Congress’s contributions.
Kharge also shared his thoughts on PM Modi and the BJP. He claimed that they are dividing the country. He was critical of their decisions to sell national assets to private companies.
The Congress leader also spoke about the Gandhi family, an important part of the Congress party’s history. He said that no member of the Gandhi family sought political power after Rajiv Gandhi. He believes that the family only wanted to serve the country. Kharge accused the BJP of trying to tarnish the reputation of the Gandhis.
During the event, many new projects were announced. Kharge and Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel introduced over 1,000 development projects worth a lot of money.
Kharge’s visit to the state was important for the Congress party. It marked the beginning of his campaign for the upcoming assembly elections. The party leaders think this visit is crucial because of the seats at stake in Janjgir-Champa district. In the last elections, Congress had a big victory, but they want to win even more seats this time.
Mallikarjun Kharge is optimistic about the Congress party’s chances in the upcoming elections. He believes in the importance of democracy and hopes that the people will support his party in the next elections.
