Khatima (Uttarakhand): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday inaugurated a towering 215-foot-high national flag at Kanjabag Tiraha in Khatima. Installed by the Minor Irrigation Department at a cost of ₹47.42 lakh, the flag was erected under a special announcement made by the Chief Minister.

CM Dhami officially dedicated the monumental flag to the public by performing rituals, cutting a ceremonial ribbon, and hoisting the tricolour. Speaking on the occasion, he described the national flag as more than a symbol — a powerful emblem of the country’s unity, integrity, and valour. He expressed hope that the flag would inspire a deep sense of patriotism among citizens.

Alongside the inauguration, the Minor Irrigation Department also hosted a solar energy exhibition under the PM KUSUM (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan) scheme. The exhibit aimed to raise awareness about solar initiatives and educate farmers and the general public about clean energy solutions.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister visited Shri Pashupatinath Temple in Khatima, where he offered prayers for the peace, prosperity, and welfare of the state. In a gesture of devotion, he donated a temple bell. Upon his arrival, CM Dhami was warmly welcomed by a large gathering of devotees, including women, youth, and elders, who greeted him with garlands and traditional chants.

Reflecting on Uttarakhand’s rich spiritual legacy, CM Dhami emphasized that the state’s identity as the “Land of the Gods” is rooted in the deep faith that resides in its temples and shrines. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to preserving and developing these sacred sites, which he said form the spiritual backbone of the region.
