Agency (Patna): Manoj Jha, Rajya Sabha MP from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has raised questions about Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s job creation record. This query comes in response to Kumar’s recent claim that the recruitment of teachers in the state was initiated by him.
Jha pointed out that despite Kumar’s 17 years in power, significant job creation had not been a feature of his governance. He referenced the formation of the Mahagathbandhan government in August 2022, which was contingent on a promise to provide four lakh jobs to Bihar’s populace. This promise was a condition set by Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the RJD, during government formation talks with Kumar.
According to Jha, the RJD had pledged to deliver 10 lakh government jobs during its campaign, and Kumar’s acceptance of the condition to provide four lakh jobs was key to forming the government. Jha critiqued Kumar’s long tenure for not addressing the recruitment issue earlier and expressed the current disappointment among various communities and youth due to the government change.
Jha credited Tejashwi Yadav with creating 1.35 lakh jobs in the health sector, with all necessary approvals in place. He urged Kumar to expedite the recruitment process and mentioned Yadav’s proposal to increase stipends for Asha workers, which is pending Cabinet approval.
These statements from the RJD MP come as a direct challenge to Nitish Kumar’s assertions about his role in teacher recruitments under the ‘Saat Nischay Part 2’ program and his understanding of Bihar’s needs. This exchange highlights the ongoing political debate in Bihar over job creation and the effectiveness of the state’s leadership in addressing employment issues.
