Agency(New Delhi): The Government of Karnataka has unveiled a digital detox initiative in collaboration with the All India Game Developers Forum (AIGDF). This initiative focuses on responsible gaming and social media usage to create a more mindful and constructive approach to technology.
Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj and ITBT, Priyank Kharge, announced the initiative during the valedictory function of GAFX2024. He emphasized the government’s commitment to building a digitally empowered Karnataka while addressing the negative consequences of excessive digital technology usage.
Kharge highlighted mental health challenges, diminishing attention spans, and strained real-world connections as the consequences of overdependence on digital technologies. The digital detox initiative aims to foster an environment where technology is used responsibly, mitigating its negative impacts.
The government will collaborate with AIGDF and Nimhans to increase awareness of mindful technology usage. Digital Detox Centers, both online and offline, will be established across Karnataka. Trained professionals will provide counseling and support to individuals seeking to manage their relationship with technology effectively. Practical tools and techniques will help individuals learn strategies for managing screen time, setting boundaries, and cultivating healthy technology habits.
Community Connection programs will involve workshops, group activities, and support groups to promote a sense of belonging and shared experiences in the journey towards digital wellness.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to creating a responsible gaming environment and promoting responsible technology usage.
