New Delhi (Agency): On Thursday, residents of Patna, Bihar, staged a protest against the local administration and the state government over the killing of Nilesh Mukhiya, husband of Patna councillor Suchita Singh. Mukhiya, a BJP leader, succumbed to his injuries at AIIMS Delhi after battling for his life for 22 days. The incident has sparked criticism and demands for justice.
Nilesh Mukhiya was attacked near Patna Kurji More on July 31 and suffered seven gunshot injuries, including five to the neck, one to the jaw, and one to his leg. Notably, five bullets were recovered from the incident site. A heavy police force has been deployed to the protest area.
The Patna Police, local administration, and Bihar government are facing significant criticism for their apparent failure to maintain law and order in the city. The broad daylight attack has shaken the confidence of many local residents.
Protesters are demonstrating against the administration and demanding justice for the late BJP leader. They are also calling for stringent actions against those involved in Mukhiya’s murder. The incident has led to public outcry and calls for accountability.
“The accused should be brought to justice. Whoever is behind it, should be hanged,” said a woman participating in the protest.
Another protester lamented the state of law and order in Bihar, stating, “Bihar government’s system has totally collapsed. Law and order have fully deteriorated in the state. The administration which has the responsibility to protect the citizens, has failed. If a leader like him (Nilesh Mukhiya) can be shot, so think about the common people in the state.”
Nilesh Mukhiya, also known as Nilesh Yadav, was the husband of BJP councillor Suchita Singh, who represents ward number 22 in Kurji locality. He was on his way to his office in a car when he was shot by four bike-borne assailants at gate number 66 of Kurji Mor on July 31.
The tragic incident and subsequent protests highlight growing concerns over law and order in Bihar, raising questions about the state government’s ability to protect its citizens. The killing of a political figure in such a public manner has further ignited tensions and prompted demands for immediate action to address security issues in the region.
The last rites for Nilesh Mukhiya will be performed at Digha Ghat. As the situation unfolds, the demands for justice and accountability continue to resonate, reflecting the broader dissatisfaction with the state’s handling of law and order.
