New Delhi (Agency): In a significant crackdown on fraudulent activities, the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police has seized fake identity cards from Kanhu Charan Pradhan, the alleged mastermind behind a cheating impersonation racket. Pradhan was arrested on August 18, and authorities have revealed details of his arrest and the ongoing investigation on Thursday.
According to a press release by JN Pankaj, Inspector General of STF, Bhubaneswar, the accused, Kanhu Charan Pradhan, had been previously implicated in at least six cheating cases.
The impersonation racket led by Pradhan involved the creation of counterfeit identity cards, which were then used to deceive innocent people. The press release stated, “Kanhu Charan Pradhan and his associates cheated innocent people by impersonating themselves as high-level government officials. They have prepared fake ID cards and impersonated themselves as senior officers of various departments of Govt of Odisha and Govt of India.”
The arrest and seizure of fake identity cards mark a significant victory for the Odisha Police in their fight against fraudulent activities and impersonation crimes. Such criminal activities undermine trust in official institutions and can lead to considerable financial and emotional distress for the victims.
The ongoing investigation is expected to shed further light on the extent of the impersonation racket, and additional arrests may follow. The action taken by the STF highlights the importance of vigilance and quick response in combating such schemes, which prey on unsuspecting individuals.
The incident serves as a reminder to the public to be cautious and verify the credentials of individuals claiming to be government officials, especially in situations involving personal or financial information. It also underscores the importance of law enforcement agencies in maintaining the integrity of government institutions and protecting citizens from fraudulent activities.
