Noida (Agency): The National Capital Region (NCR), including Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad, has undergone significant beautification efforts in preparation for the upcoming G20 Summit scheduled to be held in Delhi on September 9 and 10.
Various beautification projects have been carried out, including the installation of new sculptures, improved lighting, and increased greenery across these NCR cities. Notably, a grand statue of Gautam Buddha has been erected at the entrance from Noida to Delhi, accompanied by a renovated gate.
Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M mentioned that the entrance gate has undergone minor design modifications and additional lighting has been added to enhance its visual appeal. The gate’s color has been changed to dark grey from its previous light grey and blue, and intricate silver detailing and floral decorations have been added. The statue of Lord Buddha is now adorned with attractive lighting. The total cost for these enhancements amounts to around Rs 86.22 lakh.
Sculptures are also being installed along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, while major locations such as DND Flyover, Film City Gate, Mahamaya Flyover, and other key areas are receiving decorative upgrades. Pari Chowk is being adorned with sculptures featuring the G20 logo, and greenery is being enhanced with the planting of various plant species.
In Greater Noida, major roundabouts and crossings are being beautified through the installation of sculptures and lighting. Educative sculptures are being placed around the Knowledge Park area. The city’s parks and roundabouts, including the one near the Greater Noida Authority’s office, are also undergoing special makeovers. Furthermore, road resurfacing is being conducted on major roads in the area, along with the painting of signage boards, metro pillars, and the placement of flower pots.
In Noida, the power department is installing 140 tricolour decorative poles along the 4.6 km long elevated road from Sector-18 to Sector-61. These poles, standing at 11 meters high with polycarbonate tubes, will be placed on the central verge of the elevated road.
Similar efforts are underway in Ghaziabad, where Hindon Airport will receive foreign guests attending the G20 Summit. The Municipal Corporation has allocated around Rs 8 crore for beautification and preparation works ahead of the summit. Efforts are also being made to enhance the 13-km long route through which guests’ convoys will pass from the Hindon Air Force Station to Delhi.
The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has issued notices to residents living around Hindon Airport, requesting them to keep their windows closed and avoid accessing their rooftops from September 6 to 11 to ensure the safety and security of foreign guests. Non-compliance may lead to action taken by the authority.
