New Delhi (Agency): Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal, shared a strong message of unity and patriotism during India’s 77th Independence Day. Her words resonated with the spirit of rising above differences and working collectively for a brighter India.
In a post on X, a platform previously known as Twitter, Banerjee emphasized the word “INDIA.” This isn’t just the name of the country but also signifies the opposition alliance formed to challenge the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
As the nation remembers its history and the sacrifices made for freedom, Banerjee stated, “The chapters of our history are written in courage and resilience. As we hoist the tricolour, let’s remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and pledge to uphold the values they fought for.” Her words served as a reminder of the bravery and determination that shaped the nation.
Highlighting the importance of unity in diversity, she continued, “Let their sacrifices inspire us to forge ahead with purpose and dedication. Let us rise beyond divisions, casting aside our differences, and stand united in our journey towards a brighter, better INDIA.” This powerful statement calls upon the people of India to work together, irrespective of their differences, for the betterment of the nation.
Banerjee also brought attention to the poetic words of Rabindranath Tagore, a Nobel laureate. She quoted from his revered poem “Where the mind is without fear…” These lines have always inspired Indians to aim for a nation where everyone is free in thought and spirit.
Expressing her heartfelt wishes, she added, “Happy 77th Independence Day to all my mothers, brothers and sisters.” Later in the day, the city of Kolkata witnessed Banerjee’s active participation in Independence Day celebrations. She hoisted the national flag at Red Road, located in Kolkata’s core. The event was vibrant, showcasing the state’s achievements through tableaux and featuring choreographed dances by school students, all set to patriotic songs.
While reflecting upon the day’s significance, Banerjee took to Facebook to share, “I salute our supreme heroes, our legendary freedom fighters who fought valiantly and sacrificed their lives to attain freedom…. Walking in their footsteps, let’s vow to preserve the true meaning of freedom and uphold the values of unity and secularism. May we continue to celebrate our unity in diversity and thrive in togetherness.”
Praising the Independence Day event at Red Road, she noted, “I extend my best wishes to every single individual who participated… the programme was truly a remarkable spectacle.”
Before Independence Day, during a Trinamool Congress event, Banerjee expressed her political vision, asserting that the INDIA alliance (Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance) would win in the next Lok Sabha polls and change the country’s leadership.
