Agency(Gujarat): Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has reported a staggering imbalance in government job allocations over the past two years. With only 32 people securing government employment against a backdrop of 2.38 lakh registered candidates awaiting recruitment, the state faces significant employment challenges.
This revelation came to light on Tuesday when the Gujarat Industries Minister, Balwantsinh Rajput, addressed the Assembly with these figures. The data disclosed indicates that out of the vast number of registered candidates across 29 districts, very few have managed to find government jobs, sparking concerns among job seekers. The New Indian Express reported that 22 placements were in Ahmedabad, 9 in Bhavnagar, and a solitary position in Gandhinagar.
The situation appears particularly dire in the district of Anand, which, with 21,633 registered unemployed youth, has the highest number in the state. It is closely followed by Vadodara with 18,732, and Ahmedabad with 16,400. In contrast, Devbhoomi Dwarka district reported the least number of unemployed individuals, tallying at 2,362.
This information was brought to the fore in response to a query by a Congress MLA, highlighting the ongoing issue of unemployment in the state. The figures point to a critical need for increased job creation and effective employment strategies to address the widening gap between job availability and the number of job seekers in Gujarat.
