New Delhi (Agency): On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Karnataka’s Minister for Education, Madhu Bangarappa, announced a significant change in the examination system. Starting from the 2023-24 academic year, SSLC (Class 10) and PUC (Class 11 & 12) students will have the opportunity to take three board examinations. Even students who do not pass in their exams will be allowed to move on to the next class. This decision aims to enhance academic progress, meaningful learning, and knowledge growth among students.
The Department of Education has already conducted two examinations under this new system and has released the exam time tables. The minister explained that students failing in a few subjects will still be able to progress to the next class based on a minimum required aggregate of total marks. The government has also introduced a scheme to distribute eggs twice a day to benefit around 58 lakh children, with an estimated cost of Rs 280 crore. The scheme will also be extended to Class 10 students. Additionally, the shortage of teaching staff in the education department was addressed by appointing 10,000 guest lecturers within two days.
