New Delhi (Agency): Former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, who recently recovered from a stroke due to timely medical intervention, has referred to his recovery as his “third birth.” Speaking about his health journey, Kumaraswamy expressed his gratitude to God and the medical team that treated him. He emphasized the importance of recognizing stroke symptoms and seeking prompt medical attention, sharing his experience as a cautionary tale for others.
In his remarks, Kumaraswamy acknowledged the critical role played by both divine intervention and the team of doctors in ensuring his recovery. He spoke about his renewed lease on life, enabling him to continue serving the people of the state.
Recalling the events leading up to his hospitalization, Kumaraswamy revealed that he sensed the symptoms of paralysis around 2 am on August 30. He acted swiftly by consulting renowned cardiologist Dr C N Manjunath and a neurologist, who advised immediate admission to the hospital. Stressing the importance of prompt action, he urged people not to delay seeking medical help when they experience stroke symptoms.
Kumaraswamy’s appeal was rooted in his own experience, as he recognized the potential consequences of ignoring such symptoms. He shared that his decision to seek medical attention promptly played a crucial role in his recovery and prevented more severe consequences.
During the recovery process, Kumaraswamy learned about the “BE-FAST” method for detecting stroke symptoms: Balance, Eyes, Face, Arms, Speech, and Time. He encouraged people to be aware of these signs and to take immediate action if they observe any of them. Dr P Satishchandra, an eminent neurologist, elaborated on the significance of the “golden hour,” wherein patients should be brought to a stroke-ready hospital within three hours of experiencing symptoms.
Kumaraswamy’s recovery journey serves as a testament to the importance of timely medical intervention when faced with stroke symptoms. His experience underscores the significance of recognizing warning signs and seeking immediate medical attention to prevent potential long-term consequences. As he describes his recovery as a “third birth,” his story highlights the value of vigilance and swift action in health emergencies.
