New Delhi (Agency): An ex-serviceman in Jammu, Saroop Lal, has been arrested under the Public Safety Act (PSA). He is accused of tricking more than a dozen young people who were looking for work. He promised to find them jobs, but this was a lie. This information was given by a spokesperson for the Crime Branch of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Saroop Lal, 60, was living in the Bari Brahmana area just outside Jammu. He was arrested after the Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch recommended it.
The district magistrate of Jammu gave an order to detain Lal. He is known to the police because of nine FIRs (First Information Reports) and two initial checks by the Crime Branch.
The first FIR against Lal was made in 2006. It said he made fake job appointment letters and gave them to young people looking for work.
Based on the complaints and FIRs, Lal tricked 19 young people this way. He took a lot of money from them, according to the spokesperson.
The spokesperson also said that some of Lal’s partners have been arrested, while others are being looked at by investigators.
The Crime Branch has asked all of its departments to take similar actions against people who break the law over and over again. They also want these cases to be looked at quickly, so that justice can be done soon.
