New Delhi (Agency): The Congress party chided the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, highlighting the party’s failure to announce its legislature party leader in Karnataka as the assembly session kicked off. The Congress party was quick to point out the BJP’s perceived contrast in demeanor when it comes to victories and defeats.
Despite its loss in the state elections, the BJP has delayed the selection of its leader in the assembly, with central leaders still mulling over their choices. BJP president J P Nadda has designated Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and party General Secretary Vinod Tawde as central observers for the Leader of Opposition’s election in the Karnataka assembly.
In a direct dig, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh tweeted, “The Budget session of the Karnataka Assembly starts today. For the first time since 1952 both in the state and in the country too the session begins without the main opposition — in this case the BJP — announcing its legislature leader.” He added, “This BJP is loud when it wins but crumbles and croaks when it loses.”
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also chimed in from Bengaluru, implying that the BJP’s failure to appoint the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly demonstrates the presence of internal factionalism. He further characterized the BJP as the “most indisciplined” political party.
