New Delhi (Agency): A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator and a party worker in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, have been booked after a woman party leader filed a complaint accusing them of sharing objectionable videos of her on social media. The police have registered a case under the IT Act, and efforts are underway to apprehend the accused.
According to the complaint, the woman leader alleged that the party worker, Ravindra Nagar, had created "vulgar videos" of her with the intention of defaming her. These videos were then handed over to the corporator, Ravindra, who allegedly created a fake ID and shared the videos on social media platforms. The incident has been deemed "extremely shameful" by Mukhesh Singhal, the president of the BJP's Meerut city unit. Singhal has urged the police to take strict action against the accused, emphasizing that the party itself will also initiate appropriate measures in response to the incident.
Anand Kumar Gautam, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Bhavanpur police station, confirmed that the complaint outlined the allegations against Nagar and the involvement of the corporator. The police promptly registered a case on the same day the complaint was filed.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Kamlesh Bahadur stated that efforts are currently underway to apprehend the accused individuals. The police are actively pursuing their arrest to ensure that they face legal consequences for their alleged actions.
