New Delhi (Agency): A doctor in Assam has alleged that she is being threatened by her family due to her conversion to Hinduism, leading her to go into hiding. Her family, on the other hand, claims that she has been kidnapped. The situation has gained attention and has prompted an investigation into the matter.
In a video that recently emerged, the doctor explained that her decision to convert to Hinduism had irked her family, who then allegedly threatened her life. The doctor expressed fear for her safety and revealed that she had gone into hiding as a result. She did not disclose her exact location but affirmed that she was safe.
The family’s perspective differs significantly from the doctor’s claims. The doctor’s brother, Wakil Khan, sought police assistance in locating his sister. He reported that she had gone missing from her post at the Hapjan primary health center in Tinsukia since August 17. He indicated concerns for her well-being and requested help in locating her.
As the situation escalated, the matter was brought to the attention of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. In response, Sarma directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to investigate the issue and take necessary action based on the findings.
The doctor’s case sheds light on the complexities surrounding religious conversions and family dynamics. The conflicting narratives highlight the challenges of understanding the full scope of the situation. The emergence of the doctor’s video raises questions about her safety and well-being, while also drawing attention to the delicate balance between personal choices and familial expectations.
