New Delhi (Agency): On Monday, Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, encouraged citizens of the flood-affected regions in Alluri Sitaramaraju district to voice their concerns if they have not received relief. The Chief Minister’s statement came during his two-day tour of the flood-impacted districts, including Alluri Sitaramaraju, Eluru, and Konaseema.
“Our government is striving to extend relief in a transparent manner. We believe that nobody should be left behind. That is our goal,” said Reddy as he spoke with the villagers hit by the floods. The Chief Minister explained that all government departments, including volunteers and ward and village secretariats, are working together to provide timely relief.
Reddy stated that district collectors have been provided with the necessary resources to carry out relief operations. He stressed that the government has been consistently aiding people who have suffered losses in floods over the past four years.
Explaining the reason for his delayed visit, Reddy stated, “I didn’t want to come right after the floods, pose for photographs and go away but wanted to give sufficient time and resources to officials and then come and visit to hear that there are no complaints.”
Reddy reassured the people, stating, “I am reminding you again that this is your government. I have become the CM because all of you have supported me. I will try to solve your problems at all times.”
The Chief Minister has instructed collectors to distribute basic essentials and Rs 2,000 in cash to all families whose homes were affected by the floods. The aid package includes 25 kg of rice, dal, palm oil, milk, and vegetables. Additionally, families whose homes were damaged by the floods are to be given a relief of Rs 10,000, regardless of the type of house.
Reddy urged anyone who did not receive this aid to come forward and complain. He assured that a list of eligible beneficiaries has been prepared at the village secretariats and, if any rightful beneficiary’s name is not included, he would personally see to its addition.
