New Delhi (Agency): On August 28th, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, made strong accusations against N. Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of the opposition party Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Addressing a public gathering in Nagari, a town in the Chittoor district, Reddy labeled Naidu’s life as being “full of deceit, betrayal, backstabbing, and conspiracies.”
The criticism came on the same day Naidu attended an event in Delhi, where a Rs 100 coin was released to honor the late N.T. Rama Rao, the founder of the TDP. Reddy said, “it is preposterous that the very person who backstabbed NTR and usurped power from him is putting garland on his portrait shamelessly for political gains.”
Reddy further accused Naidu of failing to keep promises made to the public. “Naidu’s history is full of unfulfilled promises,” he said. He added that Naidu is “depending on lies, conspiracies and backstabbing for coming to power.”
According to the Chief Minister, Naidu “had promised heaven to people before elections but pushed them towards hell after coming to power.” Reddy alleged that Naidu’s tactics included discrediting the current government and the ruling party by using “friendly media” for “selfish ends.”
Dismissing claims that development in Andhra Pradesh has stalled, Reddy highlighted several achievements of his government. These include the introduction of a family doctor program, construction of new medical colleges, and achievements in the “Ease of Doing Business” ranking for three consecutive years.
“Naidu, who pursued the policy of plunder, stash and devour by cheating farmers, self-help groups, the unemployed, and minority communities, is once again resorting to conspiracies and lies aiming at coming to power,” Reddy said.
Finally, the Chief Minister urged the public to “stand by” his government in the upcoming elections. “We have so far spent Rs 2,33,000 crore on welfare schemes. Unlike them, I depend on you and God for support,” he concluded.
