Agency(Kerala): In a surprising twist in Kerala’s electoral politics, senior Congress leader AK Antony has publicly declared his support for the Congress candidate over his own son, Anil K Antony, who is contesting the Pathanamthitta Lok Sabha seat under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) banner. During a press conference on Monday, Antony emphasized that his loyalty lies with the Congress, stating, “Congress is my religion,” when asked about the political divergence within his family.
Anil Antony switched allegiances from Congress to BJP last year after a controversy arose from his critique of a BBC documentary critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This move came after he felt marginalized within his former party, expressing his discontent with what he described as a culture of sycophancy dominating party dynamics.
