New Delhi (Agency): Delhi is gearing up for the G20 Summit to be held at Pragati Maidan from September 8-10 with extensive security arrangements. More than 450 quick response teams of police, as well as disaster management units, will be strategically positioned at the summit venue, designated hotels, and along the routes to be taken by dignitaries and delegates.
Officials revealed on Wednesday that Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena is leading the charge in tackling emergency situations during the summit. A Raj Niwas official confirmed the detailed plan to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the global event.
The security preparations include the deployment of more than 450 quick response teams (QRTs) and PCR vans. Additionally, over 50 ambulances and fire-fighting machinery will be stationed in and around the airport, 23 designated hotels, Pragati Maidan, Rajghat, and along the travel routes of the attending dignitaries and delegates.
A total of seven disaster management teams will remain stationed at strategic locations, including four hotels, Pragati Maidan, Rajghat, and IARI-PUSA. The comprehensive security measures are not confined to just policing; they extend to emergency medical response and firefighting capabilities as well.
The security arrangements will be further augmented at the designated venues through the deployment of additional QRTs, ambulances, and fire-fighting personnel. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams will also be part of the security infrastructure.
The extensive security setup for the G20 Summit reflects the importance of the event and the commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants. The collaboration between different security and emergency response agencies aims to create a secure and efficient environment for the discussions and negotiations that will take place during the summit. It also exemplifies the level of preparation and coordination required to host such a significant international gathering.
