Agency(Hyderabad): In a significant boost to scientific research and innovation, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, in collaboration with Shri G. Kishan Reddy, inaugurated the foundation stone of the first-ever “Science Experience Centre” and an exclusive “Biofuel Centre” at the premises of CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) in Hyderabad.
The establishment of the Science Experience Centre, a collaborative effort between the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) and the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), marks a milestone in India’s journey towards fostering a culture of science and innovation. Aimed at inspiring young minds and encouraging innovative ideas for startups, the Centre is expected to play a crucial role in bridging the gap between traditional knowledge and modern scientific research.
Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the importance of integrating science with culture to advance societal progress and highlighted the Centre’s potential in making significant contributions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India (Viksit Bharat). The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to promoting science as a means to empower people and transform India into a knowledge society.
The Biofuel Centre, another pioneering initiative at CSIR-IICT, focuses on developing sustainable energy solutions, furthering India’s goals in energy independence and environmental conservation. These initiatives are aligned with the CSIR’s vision for 2030, which aims to enhance the quality of life through innovative science and technology.
Dr. Jitendra Singh also shed light on CSIR-IICT’s remarkable contributions to various sectors, including the development of an indigenous two-seater aircraft, bio-jet fuel, an Indian footwear sizing system, and significant advancements in healthcare, such as the development of adjuvants for COVID-19 vaccines.
The launch of these centres not only signifies a leap towards nurturing future scientists but also underscores the government’s efforts in creating a conducive environment for research, development, and innovation in science and technology.
