Wayanad – Congress General Secretary and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday actively participated in a series of high-level official meetings at the Wayanad Collectorate, addressing crucial developmental and infrastructure issues in the constituency.
During her visit, Priyanka chaired a DISHA (District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee) meeting and also held discussions with officials from the National Health Mission (NHM) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Speaking to reporters after the sessions, the Wayanad MP said the meetings helped her gain valuable insights into the region’s challenges.
“It has given me a good understanding of some of the issues here. I met with coffee growers, farmers, homestay owners, farm tourism entrepreneurs, and dairy farmers. I also visited tribal habitations to understand their concerns—many of which I can immediately address,” she said.
The four-and-a-half-hour-long session, according to Priyanka, covered both district-level and national issues.
“Some matters can be resolved at the local level, but others will need to be taken up with the central government. I will continue to raise those issues, as I promised when I was elected—to be the voice of the people of Wayanad,” she added.
A day earlier, on Sunday, Priyanka Gandhi inaugurated a new dialysis and diagnostic unit at Wandoor Taluk Hospital. She praised the collaborative efforts behind the facility, especially acknowledging Rahul Gandhi’s support.
“I saw what a beautiful dialysis and diagnostic unit has been set up here, made possible with Rahul Gandhi ji’s support and the hard work of everyone involved. I hope it brings comfort and care to those in need,” she said at the inauguration.
Interacting with hospital staff, Gandhi emphasized the importance of maintaining the facility.
“I spoke to the nurses, expressing hope that it remains as well-maintained as it is today so that it can serve patients effectively for many years,” she noted.
Extending her congratulations to everyone involved, she expressed confidence that the centre would reach its full potential in helping those requiring dialysis and related treatments.
