Agency (Bengaluru, Karnataka): Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna has requested a seven-day extension to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Karnataka, in relation to an ongoing investigation into an “obscene video” case. His advocate, Arun, emphasized that the complexity of the case warrants additional time for preparation.
The request follows a notice under Section 41A of the CrPC, which was issued to both Prajwal Revanna and his father, instructing them to cooperate with the investigation. While Prajwal was scheduled to appear before the CID today, his father is expected to join the investigation on May 2.
Advocate Arun explained that the allegations referenced in the FIR date back to 2022, and that Revanna is currently subject to an injunction order from a civil suit he has filed, which complicates his immediate compliance. He stated, “This case has various dimensions, and it required a certain time to address them,” highlighting the legal intricacies involved.
Prajwal Revanna has also publicly declared that the videos in question are morphed and insists on his innocence. He expressed his commitment to cooperating with the investigation through a message posted on X, conveying that he has communicated his circumstances to the CID through his lawyer, as he is currently not in Bangalore.
The Karnataka government has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) specifically to probe this case, indicating the seriousness with which this matter is being handled. As the investigation proceeds, all parties involved are preparing for a detailed legal battle where the truth of the allegations will be scrutinized.
