Agency(Rajasthan): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at a rally in Karauli, Rajasthan, claimed that his government has lifted 25 crore Indians out of poverty, a feat he attributed to effective governance in contrast to the decades-long “Gareebi Hatao” (Eradicate Poverty) campaign by the Congress. Speaking ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Modi emphasized the BJP’s role in addressing issues neglected by previous administrations, particularly in supporting the agricultural sector.
Modi highlighted the Kisan Samman Nidhi initiative, which he said now benefits 10 crore farmers, as a key achievement in his effort to make farmers more prosperous. This claim comes as part of his broader narrative that contrasts his administration’s accomplishments with what he describes as the failures of the Congress party, particularly in areas of poverty alleviation and agricultural support.
During his speech, Modi expressed confidence in the BJP’s electoral prospects in Rajasthan, suggesting a forthcoming defeat for the Congress in the state. He touched on the theme of anti-corruption, accusing the opposition INDIA bloc of shielding corrupt figures and reiterating his commitment to stringent anti-corruption measures.
“The corrupt have to go to jail. This is Modi’s guarantee,” he declared, framing the upcoming election as a choice between his anti-corruption stance and the opposition’s alleged protectiveness over corrupt practices.
The Prime Minister’s address in Karauli, which falls within the Karauli-Dholpur parliamentary constituency scheduled to vote on April 19, is part of a larger campaign effort as Rajasthan prepares to send 25 MPs to the Lok Sabha. Modi’s speech reflects a strategic appeal to both rural and anti-corruption sentiments among voters, as the BJP aims to replicate its sweeping 2014 and 2019 victories in the state.
