New Delhi (Agency): In a significant move towards gender equality, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar has announced the reconstitution of the vice-chairperson panel, with half of them being women. The reconstitution took effect from July 17, 2023.
The new vice-chairpersons include P T Usha, S Phangnon Konyak, Fauzia Khan, Sulata Deo, V Vijaysai Reddy, Ghanshyam Tiwari, L Hanumanthaiah and Sukhendu Sekhar Ray. As Dhankhar proudly stated, “Members will be happy to note that 50 per cent of vice-chairpersons happen to be women.”
