Agency (West Bengal): During an election rally in Kalyani, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC leader Mamata Banerjee confidently stated that the INDIA bloc would form the next government, winning over 300 Lok Sabha seats. She firmly declared, “The only guarantee is that Narendra Modi will not get a third term as the prime minister.”
Banerjee accused the BJP of spreading falsehoods about the Sandeshkhali incident to tarnish the reputation of West Bengal women. She claimed the BJP and Prime Minister Modi are misrepresenting the issue and that the so-called “guarantee babu” is maligning the state. Referring to purported videos, she suggested that BJP leaders manipulated women into signing blank papers that were later used to falsely accuse TMC leaders of sexual assault and land-grabbing.
Modi had previously alleged that the TMC was trying to cover up its misdeeds in Sandeshkhali, where party leaders were accused of serious crimes. Banerjee responded by saying that the BJP is hiding the truth and manipulating media coverage to suppress the facts.
Banerjee reiterated her strong opposition to the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in West Bengal. She criticized the BJP for interfering in personal matters, including religious practices and food habits, declaring such actions unacceptable.
Banerjee emphasized that the INDIA bloc is poised to secure between 295 and 315 seats, while the BJP would be limited to a maximum of 200 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. She maintained that the INDIA bloc’s victory is the only certainty in the polls.
