Agency(New Delhi): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Lalu Prasad Yadav has openly criticized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his recent return to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), questioning Kumar’s sense of shame for frequently changing political sides. During the ‘Jan Vishwas Maha Rally’ in Patna, Lalu Yadav, without mincing words, reflected on the past when Kumar broke off an alliance with RJD in 2017, only to label him as “Paltu-Ram” (turncoat) at that time. He highlighted the repeated mistake made by his party and his son, Tejashwi Yadav, in trusting Kumar again.
The rally, which saw the participation of other opposition leaders, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, served as a platform for the RJD leader to emphasize Bihar’s influential role in shaping national political narratives. Lalu Yadav urged the public to defeat the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, invoking Bihar’s historical contribution to producing notable personalities and movements that resonated across India.
Tejashwi Yadav also took the opportunity to critique Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s unpredictability, humorously suggesting that the Bihar government should consider getting insurance against Kumar’s potential future U-turns. He criticized the BJP’s accusations of nepotism against the RJD-Congress alliance by pointing out similar practices within the NDA constituents in Bihar.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, addressing the rally, labeled Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “Jhooton Ka Sardar” (chief of liars), accusing him of failing to deliver on various promises, including job creation, repatriation of black money, housing for all by 2022, and doubling farmers’ incomes. Kharge’s speech aimed at rallying support for the INDIA bloc to “save democracy” and counter the BJP’s policies and governance model, which he argued had not benefited the country over the last decade.
This gathering in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan not only showcased the opposition’s unity ahead of the Lok Sabha elections but also set the stage for a direct confrontation with the BJP, highlighting key grievances and calling for change.
