Agency(Himachal Pradesh): The political landscape of Himachal Pradesh has been marred by turmoil following the disqualification of Congress MLA Rajinder Rana, who has since directed a series of probing questions at Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. This development comes amid a deepening political crisis after nine legislators, including six Congress rebels and three independents, supported the BJP candidate in the recent Rajya Sabha elections.
Rana has openly criticized CM Sukhu, accusing him of making baseless promises in the face of the state’s economic difficulties. Through a Facebook post, Rana demanded explanations on the feasibility of these promises and questioned the rationale behind appointing over twenty officers on special duty (OSDs) and advisors during a financial crunch. He highlighted the excessive number of appointments compared to larger states like Uttar Pradesh and challenged the CM’s acknowledgment of the efforts and hard work of Congress workers in forming the state government.
Further intensifying his critique, Rana questioned the democratic integrity of the Sukhu administration, accusing it of instituting false cases against elected officials and favoring personal acquaintances over legislators. He also spotlighted Sukhu’s official visits to Chandigarh, alleging preferential treatment and luxurious accommodations at the expense of the state’s economic health. Rana’s pointed interrogation seeks clarity and accountability from CM Sukhu, casting a shadow on the governance and democratic values within Himachal Pradesh’s current political framework.
