Agency (Uttar Pradesh): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said the Congress manifesto is like a “new version of the Muslim League”.
Speaking to the media at the Gorakhnath temple, Adityanath stated, “This is not a ‘Nyay Patra’, but ‘Anyay Patra’ towards the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Castes and Sanatana Dharma.” He further added, “A new version of the Muslim League has come. Nothing can be more shameful than the manifesto of the country’s oldest political party, Congress, representing the Muslim League,” according to a statement issued in Lucknow.
When questioned about Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s claim that the BJP fosters politics of hatred, Adityanath responded that instead of making false statements, she should develop a habit of speaking the truth. He emphasized that the public will no longer be deceived during elections, as the nation stands united under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.
Continuing his critique of the Congress, Adityanath accused the party of inheriting a policy of “divide and rule.” He elaborated, “In 1947, the Congress allowed the cunning tactics of the British to succeed and divided the country. After independence, the Congress fuelled class struggles within the country based on caste, region and language due to political selfishness.”
He further alleged that terrorism, Naxalism, and separatism are all legacies of the Congress. “Who doesn’t know what Sonia Gandhi did as the chairperson of the UPA from 2004 to 2014?” Adityanath remarked, pointing out that the Justice Ranganath Mishra Committee was formed to undermine OBC reservation. He also mentioned that the committee even suggested allocating six per cent of the OBC reservation to Muslims, a plan opposed by the BJP and NDA at the time.
Adityanath accused the Congress and its allies of attempting to encroach upon the rights of SC-ST communities. He cited the Sachar Committee report, which mentioned attempts to include some Muslim communities in the Scheduled Caste category, a move blocked by the NDA and BJP.
Furthermore, Adityanath accused the Congress of implementing Section 370 in Kashmir and undermining OBC reservation in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. He asserted, “The people of India will never allow the intention of the Congress to be fulfilled because divisive politics is not in anyone’s interest.”
Adityanath expressed confidence that the people of the nation will resist the Congress’ divisive manifesto, warning that it could lead to class conflicts and infringe upon the rights of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Backward Classes.
