New Delhi (Agency): In a strategic move for the upcoming Assembly elections in Rajasthan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is highlighting its status as the “World’s Largest Political Party.” This comes even as the party has decided to go “faceless” into the elections, following reports of internal factionalism within the state unit.
Posters have appeared at the BJP’s office in Jaipur, notably missing the faces of any party leaders. Instead, these posters display only the lotus symbol—the party’s emblem—alongside slogans, the most prominent being ‘World’s Largest Political Party.’
Narayan Panchariya, appointed as the Election Management Committee chairman for the BJP, spoke to IANS, stating, “Earlier, this tag was with China (Communist Party of China), but things have changed now.”
Explaining the party’s structure and approach, Panchariya said, “Our ‘panna pramukh’ model has taken the party into the interiors of the country. There is a lean hierarchy in the party, which is quite simple. I have been a ‘panna pramukh’ since 2018, dealing with issues at the grassroots level despite handling other responsibilities. This is the beauty of our party’s model, which is strong at its base.”
Although the party is going ‘faceless’ in its official campaign, a large poster outside the party office still features the pictures of prominent leaders such as former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, leader of opposition Rajendra Rathore, and state unit chief C.P. Joshi. These leaders are shown alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President J.P. Nadda.
The display of leaders’ pictures contradicts the earlier decision to remove images of Vasundhara Raje during the tenure of then state BJP chief Satish Poonia. At that time, it was stated that only pictures of the Prime Minister, the national President, the state unit chief, and the leader of the opposition would be used in states where the BJP is in opposition.
