Agency (Patna): In a strategic move before the trust vote of the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar, the BJP has decided to gather all its 78 MLAs in Bodh Gaya. This decision, aimed at ensuring party unity and discipline, is perceived as a measure to prevent any unexpected political developments before the crucial floor test.
A meeting held at the residence of Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary in Patna concluded with the decision to keep the BJP MLAs together in Bodh Gaya. The party leadership, including senior BJP figures, will conduct a two-day training program on February 10 and 11. This session is intended to provide political insights and guidance to the MLAs from experienced party leaders.
Arvind Kumar Singh, the spokesperson of the BJP Bihar unit, confirmed this development, emphasizing that the party has a complete majority and aims to demonstrate it confidently in the upcoming trust vote. The training camp, though a routine practice of the party, was organized abruptly on Wednesday night, raising speculations about its timing just before the trust vote.
The decision to keep the MLAs in Bodh Gaya rather than in Patna seems to be a precautionary measure to maintain cohesion among party members. The MLAs are expected to return to Patna on the morning of February 12, directly proceeding to the Vidhan Sabha to participate in the trust vote.
The budget session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly is scheduled to begin on February 12, starting with the Governor’s address. This will be followed by a no-confidence motion against the current Speaker, Awadh Bihari Choudhary, and the subsequent election of a new Speaker. The Nitish Kumar government will then face the trust vote in the assembly.
Amidst these political developments, there are rumors that some BJP and JD-U MLAs are in contact with RJD leader and former chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, adding an element of unpredictability to the upcoming ‘Khela’ (game) on February 12.
This strategic assembly of BJP MLAs in Bodh Gaya is a reflection of the party’s cautious approach in ensuring its strength and solidarity is maintained in the face of the impending political test in the Bihar Legislative Assembly.
