Bengaluru (Aryavarth): BJP leader Keshav Upadhye dispelled allegations of political compromise by his party in relation to the induction of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) ministers into the Maharashtra government. Upadhye emphasized that their participation in the government does not imply an absolution or a “clean chit” in ongoing corruption investigations by agencies.
Ajit Pawar and eight of his NCP colleagues became part of the Eknath Shinde government on July 2, with Pawar assuming the role of deputy chief minister and others joining as ministers. It should be noted that multiple among them are currently under investigation by Central probe agencies on corruption charges.
In his interaction with reporters, Upadhye, who serves as the BJP spokesperson, asserted the independence of investigation agencies and the continuation of their functions, stating, “What is going to happen will happen (in these cases). The BJP has not compromised on their judicial procedures. Giving clean chit to anyone is not our work, only the court has that right.” He also added that if someone was aligning with the BJP for development, it was a “good” move. Drawing an analogy, he stated that those inducted into the government, like a new daughter-in-law in a family, would now have to adapt to the political decorum of the BJP.
