Agency(Patna): Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader, Samrat Choudhary, leveled serious accusations against the erstwhile Congress-RJD coalition government in Bihar, claiming it hindered the state’s progress and was mired in corruption. Choudhary highlighted allegations that employment opportunities were contingent upon land offerings, a practice he suggests exemplifies the administration’s corrupt dealings.
Echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sentiments from a campaign rally in Jamui, Bihar, Choudhary reinforced the narrative that the Congress-RJD leadership significantly set back the state’s development and exploited its resources. He reiterated Modi’s message that Bihar, along with the rest of India, necessitates substantial development to achieve its full potential.
This political rhetoric surfaces as Modi inaugurates his election campaign in Bihar, a strategic move that previously coincided with the NDA’s overwhelming victory in the state during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Chirag Paswan, LJP (Ram Vilas) president and an NDA ally, expressed honor in hosting Modi’s campaign commencement from Jamui, viewing it as a positive omen for the alliance.
The historical context of the NDA’s dominance in Bihar, winning 39 of the 40 seats in the 2019 elections, sets a challenging precedent for the Congress-RJD coalition. The upcoming Lok Sabha elections, to be conducted in seven phases, will test the political landscape’s currents, with the first phase scheduled for April 19.
As Bihar braces for another electoral cycle, the discourse between the current NDA-led administration and the opposition underscores the ongoing battle for development, governance, and public trust in one of India’s most politically vibrant states.
