Agency (New Delhi): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stirred the political narrative by comparing the ongoing Lok Sabha elections to the epic battle of Mahabharat, casting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the role of Lord Krishna and labeling the opposition as akin to the mythological antagonists ‘Duryodhan’ and ‘Dushasan’. Speaking at a rally in Orai within the Jalaun constituency, Adityanath supported this portrayal with a vivid depiction of the electoral stakes.
Adityanath rejected the idea that the election revolves around polarisation, instead framing it as a conflict between the devotees of Lord Ram (Rambhakts) and those he accused of betraying him (Ramdrohis). He underscored historical narratives where adversaries of Lord Ram faced ultimate defeat and asserted that the opposition’s fate would be similar.
Highlighting Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Adityanath praised him for steering the party through what he described as a Mahabharat against modern-day ‘Duryodhans’ and ‘Dushasans’. He contrasted the opposition leaders’ focus on personal and familial interests with Modi’s dedication to the broader Indian populace, whom he referred to as Modi’s extended family.
The Chief Minister also accused previous administrations led by the SP, BSP, and Congress of neglecting Bundelkhand, alleging that their governance allowed the mafia to deplete resources and sow chaos, which resulted in adverse outcomes like youth migration, farmer suicides, and insecurity among local populations.
Adityanath’s speech also celebrated the construction of the grand temple for Ram Lalla, a project symbolizing the BJP’s commitment to its core voter base, while criticising the opposition for past violence against Ram devotees and alleged leniency towards terrorism during their terms. The fiery discourse at the rally not only reaffirmed the BJP’s campaign themes but also highlighted the deeply symbolic and charged rhetoric being employed this election season.
