Agency (Uttar Pradesh): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched a sharp critique of the Congress party, accusing it of using the term “Hindu terrorism” to insult Hindus, and linking these accusations to veteran Congress leader Sushilkumar Shinde, who was Union Home Minister during the UPA government. Speaking at a campaign rally in Solapur, Maharashtra, Adityanath also touched upon the national security enhancements and the elevation of India’s global stature under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
The rally, aimed at supporting BJP candidate Ram Satpute, coincides with Congress fielding Praniti Shinde, the daughter of Sushilkumar Shinde, in the same constituency. Adityanath used the platform to voice grievances against the Congress, alleging that their past policies have contributed to terrorism, Naxalism, poverty, and corruption in India.
Furthermore, Adityanath claimed that Congress has historical tendencies that could undermine the reservations provided to Scheduled Castes, Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, suggesting that Congress might reallocate these reservations to other groups. He highlighted previous attempts under Congress-led administrations to categorize Muslims within reserved quotas, which were thwarted by BJP opposition.
This electoral battle in Solapur is shaping up as a direct confrontation between contrasting visions for India’s future, with Adityanath framing the election as a choice between developmental progress under the BJP and regressive policies under the Congress. As the campaign intensifies, these issues are set to stir significant debate among the electorate.
