Agency(New Delhi): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh expressed confidence on Tuesday that the INDIA opposition bloc, which includes AAP, will win all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi in the upcoming general elections. He attributed this optimism to a combination of public support for the INDIA bloc and negative sentiment towards the BJP, exacerbated by recent political arrests.
Addressing reporters at a press conference, Singh, an AAP Rajya Sabha MP, highlighted the challenges faced by the public, such as inflation, unemployment, and corruption, which he believes will sway voters towards the opposition. The AAP and Congress, which have a seat-sharing agreement in Delhi, are united in their goal to unseat the BJP, which has held all seven of the city’s parliamentary seats in the last two elections.
Singh specifically criticized the BJP for the arrest of key AAP figures, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and colleagues Satyendra Jain and Manish Sisodia, suggesting that these actions will harm the BJP’s electoral prospects.
Furthermore, Singh noted a favorable shift in public opinion in Uttar Pradesh, crediting the effectiveness of the Samajwadi Party’s PDA (Picchde-Dalits-Alpsankhayak) campaign within the INDIA bloc. He also predicted positive outcomes for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra, emphasizing that the electorate is unlikely to forgive those who have broken away from the alliance.
On the topic of the opposition’s strategy, Singh revealed that a common minimum programme for the INDIA bloc is expected to be announced shortly, following his discussions with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. This collaborative effort reflects the opposition’s coordinated approach to challenge the incumbent BJP across multiple fronts in the national elections.
