New Delhi: Indian cinema icon Rajinikanth turned 75 on Friday, sparking a wave of heartfelt wishes from fans, celebrities and political leaders across the country. Leading the tributes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm greetings and celebrated the superstar’s remarkable 50-year journey in films.
“Greetings to Thiru Rajinikanth Ji on the special occasion of his 75th birthday. His performances have captivated generations and have earned extensive admiration. His body of work spans diverse roles and genres, consistently setting benchmarks. This year has been notable because he completed 50 years in the world of films,” the Prime Minister wrote on X, adding prayers for Rajinikanth’s long and healthy life.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin also conveyed his wishes in a heartfelt message on social media. Praising Rajinikanth’s enduring charisma and sincerity, Stalin wrote that the superstar has been captivating audiences “from six to sixty” for half a century. He wished Rajinikanth continued success and expressed hope that the actor’s “victory flag keeps flying with the love and support of the people.”
Rajinikanth, fondly called “Thalaiva” by millions of admirers, remains one of Indian cinema’s most influential and beloved figures. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he has acted in numerous films across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and even English cinema, becoming a cultural phenomenon far beyond the screen.
Recently, the legendary actor was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the closing ceremony of the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, commemorating his five decades of unparalleled contribution to the film industry.
