New Delhi: In a fresh wave of cyber offensives, a group identifying itself as “Pakistan Cyber Force” on social media platform X has claimed responsibility for breaching key Indian defense institutions. The group alleges it has accessed sensitive data from the Indian Military Engineering Services and the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses.
Sources suggest the attackers may have obtained confidential information, including login credentials and personal details of defence personnel. In a related incident, the cyber group reportedly attempted to deface the official website of Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited (AVNL), a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence. The website was allegedly altered to display the Pakistan flag and images of the Al Khalid tank.
As a precaution, AVNL’s website has been taken offline to allow for a comprehensive security audit. This step aims to assess any potential damage caused by the breach and to ensure the integrity and security of the platform.
Cybersecurity agencies are on high alert and are continuously monitoring for further intrusions, particularly those potentially sponsored by state-linked threat actors. Authorities are focused on identifying and neutralising any ongoing threats in real time.
In response, defence and cybersecurity teams have initiated a series of countermeasures to strengthen digital infrastructure, improve network resilience, and fortify systems against future cyberattacks. These actions are part of broader efforts to enhance the country’s cyber defence posture and protect critical assets from emerging threats.
