Agency(Kurukshetra): Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, while addressing an international seminar in Kurukshetra, likened “anti-national narratives” to the Covid virus, underscoring the need for their neutralization. He was the chief guest at the 8th international seminar on ‘Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam: Shrimad Bhagwadgita & Global Unity,’ organized by Kurukshetra University and Kurukshetra Development Board. This event was a part of the ongoing International Gita Festival.
Dhankhar commented that some people, either intentionally or due to misunderstanding, engage in spreading these anti-national narratives, which he insists must be opposed. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Swami Gyananand, and Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi were also present at the event.
The Vice President emphasized the significance of the Gita’s philosophy in Indian civilization and governance, highlighting its focus on objectivity, transparency, equity, and universal brotherhood. He lauded India’s progress in various fields, expressing aspirations for India to reach its pinnacle by its centenary Independence celebration in 2047.
Reflecting on global conflicts like the Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas issues, Dhankhar remarked on the world’s current tumultuous state, advocating for the Gita’s relevance in these times. He recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statements against expansionism and for peace through dialogue and diplomacy, drawing guidance from the Gita.
Dhankhar also cited the Mahabharat, highlighting Lord Krishna’s efforts to prevent war and his teachings to Arjuna, drawing a parallel to PM Modi’s current actions. He praised Chief Minister Khattar as a “true follower” of the Gita and commended the Central government’s alignment with the principles of “Gita governance.”
The Vice President stressed the importance of equality before law in democracy, noting significant changes in the legal system ensuring no one is above the law. He criticized the culture of protesting legal notices, asserting that such reactions are contrary to the teachings of the Gita.
During the event, Dhankhar, accompanied by his wife Sudesh Dhankhar, visited the Assam Pavilion. He expressed optimism about India’s future economic growth, projecting it to be the third-largest economy by 2030. Dhankhar concluded by highlighting the Gita’s relevance in providing solutions and promoting inclusivity, urging citizens to contribute to India’s development and envisioning the ‘Amrit Kaal’ as a golden era, aiming to transform India into a developed nation by 2047.
