Agency (Lucknow): The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has initiated an internal investigation into allegations of a paper leak and the circulation of question papers and answer sheets on social media related to the recent police recruitment exam. Renuka Mishra, the board’s chairperson, confirmed the formation of the committee in response to problems reported by candidates through social media.
The committee, led by Additional Director General (ADG) Ashok Kumar Singh, will assess the recruitment process and examine claims circulating on social media following the completion of the examination. Mishra clarified that no paper was uploaded on social media before the exam, and the focus is on verifying the authenticity of the claims.
The investigation will determine whether the alleged paper leak occurred before, during, or after the examination. Mishra emphasized the board’s commitment to transparency and merit in the recruitment process.
This probe follows demands from aspirants for an investigation into issues encountered during the recruitment exams held on Saturday and Sunday, which saw the participation of nearly 48 lakh candidates. Additionally, 244 individuals were arrested for engaging in fraudulent activities during the exam, which aimed to fill 60,244 constable positions in the Uttar Pradesh Police.
