Agency (Punjab): In a significant development in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case, a court in Mansa district, Punjab, has officially framed charges against jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and 26 other individuals. The charges relate to the 2022 assassination of the popular singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known by his stage name Sidhu Moosewala.
The case has captured national attention, not least because the prime accused, Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar—a Canada-based gangster—has yet to be apprehended, and no charges have been framed against him. Brar, who has claimed responsibility for the murder, is affiliated with the Bishnoi gang and is accused of orchestrating the hit to avenge the killing of Vicky Middukhera, a Youth Akali leader, in 2021.
The charges against the accused include murder, attempt to murder, and criminal conspiracy among other offenses under the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. The court has also dismissed discharge applications from several key accused, setting the stage for a trial that is keenly awaited by the victim’s family and observers alike.
The next hearing in this high-profile case is scheduled for May 20, with Moosewala’s family expressing a sense of relief at the progress of judicial proceedings. The ongoing investigations and subsequent trials will continue to be closely watched, as they involve extensive criminal networks and have significant implications for law and order in the region.
