Agency(Maharashtra): In a pivotal development in Maharashtra politics, Sunetra Pawar, representing the Mahayuti alliance, and Supriya Sule of the NCP (SP), are set to file their nominations for the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency today. Sunetra, the wife of NCP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, began her day with prayers at the Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati temple in Pune, seeking blessings before the official proceedings.
“Today marks a significant step for me as I file my nomination. We sought blessings to embark on this journey,” Sunetra told the media. This election is notable as it pitches her against her sister-in-law, Supriya Sule, adding a familial dimension to the political contest.
Ajit Pawar, who was present during the temple visit, expressed his aspirations for the Mahayuti alliance’s success in the upcoming elections, particularly highlighting the potential for Maharashtra to impact the national political scene favorably under PM Modi’s leadership.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is actively involved in the campaign, has arrived in Pune to support the nomination filings not only in Baramati but also in Sangli and Satara. Fadnavis expressed optimism about the BJP’s prospects across these constituencies, including Madha, where the BJP is confident of retaining the seat against NCP (SP) contender Dhairysheel Mohite Patil.
In addition to Sunetra and Supriya Sule, other notable candidates such as Dr. Amol Kolhe for Shirur and Ravindra Dhangekar for Pune are also scheduled to submit their nominations today. The day will culminate in a joint rally featuring prominent figures like NCP chief Sharad Pawar, state president Jayant Patil, and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, symbolizing a united front within the party factions.
