Agency(New Delhi): Surendra Kumar Behera, the vice-chairman and managing director of RSB Transmissions (I) Ltd, has taken on the role of chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Eastern Region Council for the 2024-25 tenure. The announcement came during the first meeting of the newly formed Eastern Region Council in Kolkata on March 9, as reported by a CII-Jharkhand press release on Monday.
Widely recognized by his initials SK within the business community, Behera has been an emblem of entrepreneurial success since his early days. He embarked on his business journey with his brother, Ravindra Kumar Behera, starting as a Small Scale Industry (SSI) which has since burgeoned into the expansive RSB Group, according to the statement.
Boasting over forty years in the automotive and earthmoving equipment production industry, Behera has guided the RSB Group to excellence in offering comprehensive solutions that include design, validation, and manufacturing processes. His dedication to engineering and manufacturing has not only been pivotal within his organization but also in his engagements with CII, where he has previously served as the co-chairman of the National Council’s Skill Development and Livelihood Committee and as the Chairman of the CII – Jharkhand Chapter.
Moreover, his industry contributions extend to his tenure as the regional chairman (East) of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) and as a governing council member of the Indo-Danish Tool Room in Jamshedpur.
In addition, Shashwat Goenka, vice-chairman of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, has been appointed the deputy chairman of the CII Eastern Region Council for the same term, underscoring the council’s leadership renewal and commitment to fostering industry growth in the Eastern region.
