Agency(Uttarakhand): Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during a public rally in Kotdwar, Uttarakhand, expressed that after 500 years, the deity Ram Lalla will celebrate his birthday in a newly constructed temple instead of a temporary tent, marking a significant moment celebrated under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
In his speech, Shah recounted the milestones achieved under the BJP government regarding the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. He highlighted the completion of significant rituals such as the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ and credited the Modi administration for resolving the longstanding temple issue which, he claimed, had been neglected by the Congress for 70 years.
Further accentuating his party’s achievements, Shah lauded the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, for being the pioneer in implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state—a move he described as fulfilling a long-standing manifesto promise of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, BJP’s predecessor. Shah also emphasized that the nationwide implementation of the UCC is a goal outlined in the recent party manifesto under Modi’s proposed leadership.
With aspirations for Modi’s third term as Prime Minister, Shah articulated a vision for a ‘developed India’, positioning it as the third-largest economy globally and enhancing the wealth of its citizens.
He also touched upon the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), praising its role in providing citizenship to Hindu refugees from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, who he said have suffered for decades.
The electoral context of his remarks was clear, as he spoke just days ahead of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April 19 in Uttarakhand, where efforts are being intensified to ensure high voter participation across over 11,000 polling booths in the state.
