Agency (New Delhi): During his ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in Aligarh, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi voiced concerns over the negative effects of Chinese products flooding the Indian market, particularly harming local small industries and artisans. He emphasized this issue while addressing a crowd in Aligarh, a city known for its lock industry and skilled artisans.
The ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’, which traversed from Moradabad to Aligarh via Sambhal, was marked by the presence of Congress workers and supporters from its ally, the Samajwadi Party (SP). Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress general secretary, was also present.
The Uttar Pradesh Congress stated in Hindi on ‘X’, “The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra advances with messages of unity, brotherhood, and harmony under ‘Jannayak’ and ‘Lok Netri’.” A shared video of the yatra conveyed the message of standing against dictatorial forces threatening the country’s integrity, sovereignty, and constitution.
Gandhi, in his speech, lamented the replacement of local goods with cheaper Chinese imports, which is undermining the livelihoods of small-scale industries. He expressed a desire to see Aligarh emerge as a hub for electronic manufacturing, replacing Chinese goods with local products.
Addressing the issue of widespread hatred and violence in the country, Gandhi identified injustice as the root cause, affecting various sections of society, including the poor, farmers, youth, and women. He explained that the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ is a response to this injustice, aiming to unite the nation and combat these issues.
He also touched upon the recent question paper leak in the police constable recruitment exam, highlighting the plight of the unemployed youth in the state.
Priyanka Gandhi, during her address, pointed out the severity of unemployment as a major crisis, criticizing the government’s Agniveer recruitment scheme for dashing the aspirations of many young people eager to join the defense forces. She also mentioned the lack of government job recruitments and the rampant corruption in the few that are announced.
The Gandhi siblings’ speeches painted a picture of a country grappling with injustice and inequality, with a focus on rallying support against these challenges. The yatra continued its journey towards Agra, carrying the message of unity and justice.
