Agency(Punjab): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for Sonalika Tractors’ ambitious expansion plans in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. This move underscores the company’s leadership in the tractor manufacturing sector and its significant contribution to placing Hoshiarpur on the global industrial map. With a whopping investment of Rs. 1000 crore for a new tractor assembly plant and an additional Rs. 300 crores for a high-pressure foundry, Sonalika aims to solidify its status as the world’s largest integrated tractor manufacturing facility.
The new tractor assembly plant is earmarked to cater to the company’s export obligations, promising to enhance Sonalika’s annual production capacity by 1 lakh units. Furthermore, the establishment of the DRAS high-pressure foundry plant, set to be North India’s largest casting plant, signifies a leap in manufacturing excellence. Designed by renowned Japanese engineers and adhering to strict Japanese manufacturing standards, these facilities are poised to expand Sonalika’s presence across over 150 countries.
Dr. Amrit Sagar Mittal, Vice Chairman of Sonalika Tractors, expressed his appreciation for the government’s support, especially highlighting the efficiency of Punjab’s single-window system in facilitating new projects. The synergistic relationship between the state government and the private sector is fostering a dynamic environment for industrial innovation and expansion.
Akshay Sangwan, Director of Development & Commercial at Sonalika Tractors, emphasized that the new casting plant, equipped with a state-of-the-art German-made Kunkel Wagner high-pressure moulding line, will significantly enhance the quality of their heavy-duty tractors. With a melting capacity exceeding 1 lakh metric tonnes annually, the DRAS plant is set to revolutionize tractor quality with superior casting.
Chief Minister Mann’s visit to the existing tractor manufacturing plant, capable of producing a new tractor every two minutes, further highlighted Sonalika’s impressive operational scale and efficiency. His commendations reflect the integral role Sonalika Group plays in propelling Punjab’s industrial and economic development.
