Agency (New Delhi): Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra declared on Monday that Rahul Gandhi is steadfast on the path of truth and will never deviate from it. Addressing an election rally in Maharajganj, Priyanka praised her brother, emphasizing his dedication to honesty and justice.
“In politics and in life, the person who speaks the truth and does not shy away from the truth, always has importance in society. People look at him with respect,” she said. Priyanka recounted that even as a child, Rahul would defend others against injustice and has always fought for justice without backing down. She described him as a “fearless and big-hearted” individual, particularly notable in politics.
Campaigning for Rahul, who is contesting from the Rae Bareli seat, Priyanka highlighted his unique commitment, referencing his 4,000-kilometre Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. “He traveled from Mumbai to Manipur to give a message that every person in the country is a brother, and development will come only when the unity of the country remains intact,” she said.
In another rally in Amethi, Priyanka criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of neglecting unemployed youths, farmers, women, and the poor while favoring industrialists like Ambani and Adani. “He has nothing to do with people but keeps worrying about his clothes,” she remarked, questioning Modi’s apparent preoccupation with his appearance.
Priyanka alleged that while the Modi government claims there is no money to waive farmers’ loans, it has managed to waive loans for industrialists. She also criticized the Agniveer scheme for soldiers, stating that it denies youths the status of martyrs and leaves them unemployed after four years. “This is a big joke with the youth and a fraud,” she said.
Under Modi’s government, she claimed, 70 crore people have become unemployed and 30 lakh government job posts remain vacant.
Rae Bareli and Amethi are set to vote in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 20. Amethi, traditionally a Congress stronghold, was lost in 2019 when BJP’s Smriti Irani defeated Rahul Gandhi. This time, Congress has fielded KL Sharma in the constituency.
